Valentine’s Day 2027 falls on Sunday, Feb. 14, the start of a long weekend for Loudoun County Public Schools, which close Monday, Feb. 15, for Presidents Day. Loudoun County’s parks department has already set its February events, from a Hearts in a Mug afternoon in Ashburn’s Potomac Green to a family dance and a Galentine’s painting night. Teenagers 13 and older can volunteer at Hearts in a Mug, noon to 3:30 p.m. Feb. 6 (261790-01). The Claude Moore center describes Ties and Tiaras as a dance open to everyone, with a photo booth; it asks guests to dress festive.

Dinners and getaways

Lansdowne Resort, 44050 Woodridge Parkway, Lansdowne. For Valentine’s Day 2026 the resort sold an overnight package with Champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, a dining credit, a breakfast credit and a s’mores kit; Saturday night sold out. The resort lists a “Celebrate Romance” offer on its seasonal events page; the 2027 details have not been posted.

Date ideas that cost little or nothing

  • Walk the Potomac. Bazil Newman Riverfront Park in Lansdowne has a nature trail along the river, a canoe and kayak launch, free parking and restrooms at the Riverpoint Drive Trailhead, 43942 Riverpoint Drive. Open dawn to dusk.
  • The Heart Hunt at Banshee Reeks is free and runs every day Feb. 13-22.
  • The W&OD Trail crosses Ashburn and is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.; our walking and biking trails guide has the trailheads.
