Closures this week
- Marshfield Drive and Crossroads Drive at Claiborne Parkway. Loudoun County began rebuilding the intersection the week of Aug. 17. Marshfield Drive and Crossroads Drive close near Claiborne Parkway during the work, with traffic detoured to Ashburn Farm Parkway. Claiborne Parkway stays open, but expect intermittent stops and lane closures on weekdays during daytime hours. When it is done, the intersection will allow right turns in, right turns out and left turns in only, and northbound Claiborne Parkway gets a U-turn lane at Wayside Court. The county expects to finish in spring 2027 (county notice, Aug. 12). Four Loudoun County Transit stops on Crossroads Drive are also closed: Route 343 riders use a temporary stop on Claiborne Parkway at Crossroads Drive through early November, and Route 344 riders use a temporary stop on Ashburn Farm Parkway at Windmill Drive through late January (bus service changes).
- Claiborne Parkway at the Dulles Greenway. Weekday daytime construction on a new signal and related work continues at the Greenway ramps, with lane closures and brief stops possible. The county expects to finish by mid-December (county notice, Sept. 28).
- Atlantic Boulevard eastbound, Sterling. About four miles east, the eastbound through lanes and right shoulder of Atlantic Boulevard are closed from Majestic Drive to Dulles Center Boulevard for construction through 3:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, according to 511 Virginia.
- Old Ox Road (Route 606) westbound. VDOT’s path work between Moran Road and the Dulles Greenway off-ramp keeps westbound lanes shifted behind barriers, with off-peak lane closures possible. Details are under the Metro paths section below.
511 Virginia also lists short overnight lane closures on other Loudoun roads that open by morning; check it before you leave.
Who maintains Ashburn’s roads
Ashburn has no city street department. The Virginia Department of Transportation maintains public roads in Loudoun County, including paving and snow removal; its paving schedule is online. Loudoun County designs and builds many new roads and intersections, then hands them to VDOT. Some streets inside HOA communities are private, and the association maintains them. The county’s road maintenance page explains how to tell.

Westbound lanes are shifted left behind concrete barriers; both lanes and all Greenway ramps stay open, with off-peak lane closures possible. VDOT expects final completion in mid-fall 2026.
- Package 2, right of way since April 2026: paths on Ashburn Village Boulevard near Ryan Bickel Field, Smith Switch Road, westbound Waxpool Road from Uunet Drive to Red Rum Drive, and Wynridge Drive/Claude Moore Drive to Old Ryan Road.

What this means for you
If you use Marshfield Drive or Crossroads Drive to reach Claiborne Parkway, plan on Ashburn Farm Parkway until spring 2027, and once the work is done, left turns out of those streets will end. If you commute east on Route 7 or turn onto Loudoun County Parkway from Waxpool Road, expect work zones through 2027 and 2028. Check 511 before you leave.
