Ashburn has two Silver Line Metro stations, fare-free county buses to the Ashburn station, the Dulles Greenway toll road and the W&OD Trail for bikes.
Last checked Oct. 18, 2026. Sources: Loudoun County’s Silver Line, bus schedules and Metrorail parking pages, the Dulles Greenway, NOVA Parks and 511 Virginia.
Most Ashburn trips are by car on a handful of state highways, but the Silver Line, a fare-free county bus network and the W&OD Trail give real alternatives. For current lane closures and long-term road projects, see our road construction guide.

Metro: the Silver Line
Loudoun County has three Silver Line stations, according to the county: Ashburn, the end of the line; Loudoun Gateway; and Washington Dulles International Airport. Trains run east toward Washington.
Parking at Ashburn station: Loudoun County built two garages there. The county runs the Ashburn South garage at 43625 Croson Lane, with EV chargers, bike racks and lockers, a kiss-and-ride and a county bus stop; the Ashburn North garage is operated by Comstock through ParkX. Daily and reserved parking rates are on each garage’s page.

The airport
Washington Dulles International Airport is a short drive from Ashburn. Drive by Route 28 or the Dulles Greenway, or take the Silver Line from Ashburn station to the airport station.
Biking and walking
The W&OD Trail, a paved 45-mile rail trail from Shirlington to Purcellville, crosses Ashburn past Trailside Park and is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, NOVA Parks says. VDOT is building new paths to the Ashburn and Loudoun Gateway stations; see the road construction guide. More trails are in parks and trails in Ashburn.
Parking
Ashburn has no downtown and no municipal parking decks, meters or parking enforcement hours of its own. Shopping centers and town centers such as One Loudoun set their own rules. On public streets, Loudoun County enforces Residential Permit Parking Districts in some neighborhoods, where you need a permit decal or visitor pass during posted hours; check the county’s RPPD map. HOAs, including Ashburn Village, set their own parking rules for their communities.
