Labor Day 2027 is Monday, Sept. 6. It is a federal holiday and a Loudoun County holiday, and it marks the end of the outdoor pool season. The county announces its holiday hours a few weeks ahead; the 2026 hours, from the county’s Aug. 18, 2026, notice, are below as a guide and marked by year.

In 2026 the county said park offices were closed but park visitor and nature centers kept normal hours.

Pools and splash pads

  • Ashburn Recreation and Community Center splash pad, 21105 Coopers Hawk Drive: open 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day 2026, then on shorter hours, noon to 6 p.m., until Sept. 20.
  • Hanson Regional Park splash pad, Aldie: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Labor Day 2026.
  • Franklin Park and Lovettsville outdoor pools: 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Labor Day 2026, then closed for the season that evening.
  • Ashburn Village: in 2026 the Sports Pavilion outdoor pool was open 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. all Labor Day weekend and closed for the season on Labor Day. The Lakes and Woods pools stayed open on the next two weekends, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the Mills pool closed early on Sept. 19 for the association’s Doggy Pool Party. The indoor pool at the Sports Pavilion is open year-round.

Trash pickup

Loudoun County does not collect household trash in Ashburn. Homeowners associations contract with private haulers, and each sets its own holiday schedule. Check your HOA newsletter or your hauler’s site. Our trash and recycling guide lists the haulers and the landfill rules.

Things to do on Labor Day weekend

  • One Loudoun closed its 2026 Summer Strings Series on the Friday before Labor Day, Sept. 4, 6 to 9 p.m. on the plaza at 20626 Easthampton Plaza; its events page lists each season’s dates.
  • Lansdowne Resort, 44050 Woodridge Parkway, booked live music on the terrace for Labor Day weekend 2026, with the Lindsay Austin Trio.
  • Parks and trails are open dawn to dusk; see our parks and trails guide and walking and biking trails.

What this means for you

The landfill is closed on the holiday, so plan any dump run for another day. If you want one last swim, the HOA and county outdoor pools are at their final weekend.
