The school registrar calls within five business days to set an appointment, where you bring proof of residency, proof of age, guardianship papers and immunization and health records. Children must be 5 by Sept. 30 to start kindergarten. Registration for 2026-27 opened Jan. 20, 2026. Questions: Registration Services, 571-252-2490.

Attendance zones and the School Board

Attendance zones are set by the nine-member Loudoun County School Board. Ashburn District is represented by Deana Griffiths and Broad Run District by Ross Svenson; April Chandler (Algonkian District) is chair. Agendas and minutes are on BoardDocs, and meetings air on Comcast channel 1070 and Verizon Fios channel 43.

This fall the board is reviewing elementary attendance zones in eastern Loudoun, the Sterling-area schools from Algonkian to Sully. No Ashburn elementary school is on that list. Public hearings are at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, Thursday, Nov. 12, and Thursday, Dec. 10, at 21000 Education Court, with a vote set for Tuesday, Dec. 15. Changes would start in fall 2027.

What this means for you
